Dermalogica Facials
Please follow the ‘Pre Treatment/Aftercare – General’ advice, unless your facial is listed separately in which case follow that specific advice.
Pre Treatment – General
- Patch test are required for some facials prior to your first treatment, your therapist will advise you if this is needed
- Please do not wear contact lenses
- Don’t wax within 24 hours of your facial
- Don’t spend time in the sun a day before your facial
- Don’t use exfoliating products which contain retinol or glycolic acids 72 hours before your facial
- Don’t have Botox before a facial (get advice from whom performed that service as to your aftercare)
- Remove jewellery
Aftercare – General
- Avoid wearing make-up for at least 24 hours
- Drink plenty of water
- Avoid sunbathing for up to 12 hours
- Avoid direct heat, such as saunas, hot baths, showers
- Do not apply any other exfoliating skincare products for 72 hours after having a facial
- Always use an SPF sunscreen to block ultraviolet B rays.
- Always remove makeup at the end of the day
Pre Treatment – Luminfusion
- Do not use topical agents that may increase the sensitivity of your skin such as retinoids, exfoliants, topical antibiotics or hydroxy acids 5-7 days prior to the procedure.
- Avoid IPL/Laser procedures for at least 2 weeks prior to the procedure.
- No waxing, depilatory creams, or electrolysis to the area being treated for 5 days prior.
- Avoid unprotected sun exposure or sunburn at least one week before the procedure.
- Do not shave the face the day of the procedure to avoid skin irritation.
- Keep make up to a minimum day of the procedure if possible and do not experiment with new products beforehand.
- Avoid alcohol and caffeine 24-48 hours before the procedure.
Aftercare – Luminfusion
- Try to stay out of excessive sun exposure such as tanning and sunbathing for at least 10 days to avoid risk of hyperpigmentation and sensitising the skin.
- Do not apply make up immediately after procedure. Continue to wear SPF 30+ daily.
- Gently cleanse your face before bedtime day of the procedure with a gentle cleanser and tepid water.
- Use serums and the recommended skin care products per your skin therapists’ directions.
- Avoid sweaty exercise, saunas, and swimming for at least 48 hours after the procedure.
- Avoid immediately using active skin care (including AHA/BHAs, exfoliants, Vitamin A, Retinol,etc.) for at least 3-5 days.
Dermalogica Advanced Facials
Pre Treatment – Pro Microneedling
- Avoid Accutane in the six months prior to beginning your procedures. Check with your prescribing physician.
- Do not use topical agents that may increase the sensitivity of your skin such as retinoids, exfoliants, topical antibiotics or hydroxy acids 3-5 days prior to your procedure.
- Avoid IPL/Laser procedures, unprotected sun exposure, or sunburn for at least 2 weeks prior to your procedure.
- No waxing, depilatory creams, or electrolysis to the area being treated for 5 days prior.
- Do not shave the day of the procedure to avoid skin irritation.
- Keep makeup to a minimum day of the procedure if possible.
- Do not experiment with new products before the procedure.
- Avoid alcohol, blood thinners and caffeine 24-48 hours before the procedure.
Aftercare – Pro Microneedling up to 24 hours after treatment
- Do not apply makeup for up to 24 hrs after the procedure.
- You can cleanse your face 6 hours after the procedure or before bedtime with a gentle cleanser and tepid water.
- Use Pro Restore morning and evening for 7 days post treatment.
- Continue to wear SPF 30+ daily.
Aftercare – Pro Microneedling up to 48 hours after treatment
- Do not apply cold compresses or ice packs to skin.
- Avoid taking ibuprofen or other anti-inflammatories.
- Apply a physical SPF 30+ during the day, after 24 hours (and cleansing your face).
Aftercare – Pro Microneedling up to 72 hours after treatment
- Avoid sweaty exercise and sun exposure.
- Avoid active skin care (including AHA/BHAs, exfoliants, Vitamin A, Retinol, etc.)
- If you must wear make-up, use mineral-based, oil-free make-up.
- Do not pick or peel skin during the healing process.
Pre Treatment – Pro Power Peel
- Do not use topical agents that may increase the sensitivity of your skin such as retinoids, exfoliants, topical antibiotics or hydroxy acids 5-7 days prior to the procedure.
- Avoid IPL/Laser procedures for at least 2 weeks prior to the procedure.

Aftercare – Pro Power Peel
- You may appear red and flushed following the treatment, and may be more sensitive depending on your skin condition.
- Side effects include, but are not limited to dryness, stinging, itching, irritation, redness, tightness, peeling.
- By the second day, skin may peel or look darker.
- On the third day, peeling may begin around the nose and mouth, followed by the cheeks, forehead, jawline and neck.
- Avoid strenuous exercise on the day of the treatment.
- Avoid saunas or steam rooms as these activities increase blood circulation to the face
- You must always wear a SPF protection after this treatment
Waxing
Pre Treatment
- Wear loose fitting clothing
- Refrain from using body lotion or moisturising body washes on the day of your waxing as they prevent the wax from being applied and removed efficiently
- Wear old underwear
- Please be aware that any fake tan will be removed when the area is waxed
Aftercare
- Keep the area that has been waxed clean and avoid scratching, heat and friction and wear loose fitting clothing
- Do not take a hot bath or shower, keep the temperature of the water to cool to lukewarm and do not use perfumed bath or shower products
- Do not apply deodorants, body sprays, powders or lotions to the area
- Do not use saunas, hot tubs, steam rooms or infra-red lamps
- Do not go swimming, attend the gym or participate in other form of exercise/dance class.
- Do not use a sunbed, apply fake tan or have a professional spray tan treatment
Elleebana Lash Lift and Brow Lamination
Pre Treatment
- Please do not wear contact lenses
- Please make sure the eye area is completely clear of any make-up when you come into the salon
- Do not wear mascara on the day of your appointment
- Avoid applying oil-based make-upon your lashes or around the eye on the day of your appointment
- Remove all false eye lashes
Aftercare
- Avoid getting your eyelashes wet for the first 24hours
- Avoid steam, saunas and swimming for first 48 hours
- Avoid touching, rubbing or introducing foreign bodies or contaminants into the treatment area
- Ensure lashes are not disturbed or manipulated into a different position (e.g. when sleeping, cleansing the face, applying moisturiser or cosmetics)
- Do not use lash curlers
- Avoid strong sunlight or UV light (if tinted)
Massage and Holistic
Pre Treatment
- Stay hydrated prior to your treatment this will help to release toxins
- Wear loose comfortable clothing
Aftercare
- After your treatment, your body and mind are in a relaxed state.
- Drink plenty of water, this helps with hydration, lost fluids, reduces fatigue, as well as helps eliminate toxins from your body
- Avoid drinking alcohol or caffeine containing beverage for at least 12 hours as they have dehydrating products
- Avoid strenuous activity for the next 12 hours, to help your body relax and de-stress further
- When sitting in front of a computer for longer than 20 minutes, stand up to stretch and gently warm up your joints
- Book another massage
GELeration Manicure & Pedicure
Pre Treatment
- Always remove your gel nails properly. Products are available to purchase at The Cedar Hut for at home renewal or I offer a nail removal service. Please note that nail removal is only available in the salon if the nails were done by The Cedar Hut previously.
- Do not pick or peel the gel as this can damage the natural nail
Aftercare

- Avoid heat such as bath, shower, sauna, steam room, hot ovens and ironing for at least 2-3 hours after your appointment.
- Wear gloves when washing up or cleaning
- Do not file your nails or push your cuticles back while wearing the gel polish as this will break the seal of the gel and lead to chipping
- Apply cuticle oil once or twice a day to the top and underside of the nail and the surrounding skin as this will help with hydration and promote growth
Traditional Manicure
Pre Treatment
- Make sure to remove your nail varnish prior to arrival at the salon
Aftercare
- Wear protective gloves when gardening, or doing housework
- Dry hands thoroughly after washing
- Use hand cream regularly
- Do not use your fingernails as tools, use pads of fingers instead
- Always use a base coat under polish to prevent staining, and use a good quality top coat to prevent chipping
- Use an acetone-free nail polish remover
- Never use metal files
- Keep nails a workable length
- Use cuticle cream or oil daily to moisturise dry cuticles
- Do simple hand exercise to keep joints supple
- Have regular manicures to keep your hands and nails at their best
Traditional Pedicures
Pre Treatment
- Please bring open toed shoes with you
- Check that you can slip the sandal on without touching or rubbing your toenails
- Please remove varnish where possible prior to attending your appointment
Aftercare
- Wear open toe shoes
- Change socks or tights daily
- Apply moisturising lotion daily to the feet after bathing
- Apply talc or special foot powder between the toes to help absorb moisture
- Foot sprays containing peppermint or citrus oil are useful to refresh the feet during the day
- Dry hands and feet thoroughly after washing, especially between toes and fingers
- Use cuticle cream or oil daily to moisturise dry cuticles
- Use an acetone-free nail polish remover
- Have regular pedicures to keep your feet nourished
Spray Tanning
Pre Treatment
- Shower & exfoliate your body
- Avoid heavy moisturising shower gel
- Do not apply moisturiser, deodorant, oil based products or perfume
- Wax/shave 24 hours before tan session
- Wear loose dark clothing (suitable swimwear or underwear to create the desired result) & open shoes e.g. flipflops. Avoid silks, wool & leather garments as the tan will not wash off these materials. If using underwear, ensure it is black as the tan does not wash out of elastic/lace.
Aftercare
- Do not touch the skin whilst developing to avoid tanned fingers
- Avoid water on the skin whilst tan is developing. > Avoid exercise or perspiration during development
- Follow guidance from your therapist Shower between 6-8 hours after treatment
- Pat dry with a towel – do not rub
- Use a non oiled based moisturiser to keep your skin nourished and tan looking fresh
